Sunday we went around to different malls by cab. We still did a lot of walking, the blisters on my feet can attest to that!
We were out on a hunt, find Chichi a cap! He left his in our car, back in Montreal. Kind of far from where we are =P
We started out with Abreeza mall, since it's like a hop and a skip away from our hotel. There were caps, but as we've discovered, it's also the most expensive mall around. He wasn't about to dish out $20+ for something to shield his noggin and so, off we went to our next destination! Chinatown. Our hunt ended there, but our exploring continued.
As we were walking along, a sweet smell started calling me over. What could this sweet fragrance be? Our feet led us to the Magsaysay Fruit Vendors Association. Stalls and stalls of sweet fruit~ Durian!! It was so sweet smelling! Chichi bought me a small one, that I was able to eat right on the spot. The guy at the stall offered us gloves, which I took thankfully.
It's gooey softness, melt in your mouth feeling, sweet sweet odour, pure bliss! It was definitely the perk of my day! Being a baby durian, some parts of the flesh were a bit crunchy, but for the most part it was that sweet gooeyness that I love. I have weird tastes, I know, I've been told multiple times!
Chichi was a good sport, he took a bite of durian! I'd have taken a picture if my hands hadn't been covered in goop, as he hates the stuff and it was a rare sight to see! He says it also doesn't smell the same as when the fruit is frozen and thaws out. I concur! From my share of frozen durian, compared to what I ate at the market that day, I will say there is a difference in both smell and taste. The frozen/thawed variety also tends to leave a tingle on the tongue, whereas the fresh one doesn't.
At the end of the Magsaysay Fruit Vendors Association stalls, there was an admission area. The guard told us entry was free, and so, in we wandered. We entered into the Obu-Manuvu tribal village. We made our way towards the water's edge, where we saw black sand and children playing in the water.
We then continued on our journey. This time looking for slippers, as Chichi's didn't get packed. Off we went to SM Appliance Lanang Mall. It's a pretty big mall, we never did find him slippers, but we had fun walking around. It was a beautiful day! Sunny, warm with just the right amount of wind.
Our next stop, Victoria Plaza Mall. This mall was a lot smaller than SM Lanang, also the layout reminded me of un Marché aux Puces (Flea Market). We didn't stay too long because we were starving! Decided to go to Bon Appetit, but upon arriving there, it was closed. They're closed between 3 and 5pm, we got there around 4pm. We will try and go this weekend!
So much walking!
Finally, we came back home, exhausted and with empty bellies. With the last bit of strength left, off we went to Yellow Cab for some pizza and wings.
We opted for the Korean BBQ sauce on our wings, which was extremely sweet! Chichi didn't like it, I found it tasted better the next day when the chicken was cold.
I was thankful we had asked for delivery as I kept falling asleep as we sat and waited for our noms to be ready! Afterwards, we had a night-in of stuffing our faces and watching How to Get Away with Murder on Netflix. Exhausted after trotting all day, but content, it was an awesome day!
